During this first webinar, webinar participants explored the space a school has to work with sustainability within the curriculum. Together with table guests Anton Bakker (curriculum developer mens & maatschappij at SLO), Ria Sluiter (director of Stichting Technasium), Caroline de Wild (school leader Sint Jan Baptistschool in Wassenaar) and Marcel Kamp (co-author of Plan Bèta-Bèta-Education for Sustainable Development, NVON) they sought answers to questions such as:
- How do you make your own choices and emphases in the school curriculum in relation to sustainability?
- Can it be related to the school's vision and identity?
- Do you follow the teaching methods or use additional third-party teaching materials?
- What can be the role of the school leader, teacher or lecturer in this regard
- Book 'Sustainable development in primary education; a future- and development-oriented perspective', by Stan Frijters i.c.w. the school leaders knowledge circle Sustainable Development in primary education.
- Update core objectives, which is being worked on by SLO together with the educational field.
- Plan Beta - education for sustainable development. Plan Beta offers a vision and handouts to science teachers and school leaders to provide focus and pace in moving toward sustainable science subjects within a sustainable school.
