During this education event, the Sustainable Teachers 2024 will be announced. These are teachers in PO, VO, MBO and HO who make education sustainable in an innovative way, and inspire colleagues and students with their enthusiasm. A festive evening with: debate, education market, networking drinks, awards ceremony and music.

A deeper look at sustainable education

Sustainable education encompasses more than just environmental education; it is a holistic approach that prepares students to address the complex challenges of our time. It involves cultivating awareness, promoting critical thinking and encouraging active citizenship. Sustainable teachers play a crucial role in this process by leading by example and developing a curriculum rich in environmental, economic and social dimensions of sustainability.

Program of the evening

The program will not only honor the most sustainable teachers, but also provide a platform for in-depth discussions and knowledge exchange. The sustainable education fair offers an opportunity to discover innovative projects and materials that are transforming education. Inspiring speakers will share their insights on how sustainability can be woven into pedagogy and curriculum design. The evening will conclude with a networking reception, where thoughts can be exchanged and new collaborations can emerge.

18.00-19.00 Walk-in with education market

19.00-20.00 Debate: Sustainability - education must lead the way

20.00-20.30 Break with education market

20.30-21.15 Award ceremony

21.15-22.00 Networking event

Debate 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The call from young people and businesses is crystal clear: making education more sustainable must be much faster. Because the labor market is yearning for people who can shape sustainable development. But how do we set that acceleration in motion? What skills and facilities do teachers need? Why is the statutory curriculum lagging behind? How do you get different parties in school on the same page? And what can we learn from sustainability coordinators? In this thought-provoking debate, we look for answers.

Award ceremony Sustainable Teacher Election 2024 8:30-21:15 p.m.

A jury consisting of teachers, students, and experts in the field of sustainable development will announce the Sustainable Teachers 2024. To do so, they use substantive criteria such as learning to deal with systemic issues, creating ecological awareness, and working for social justice. There are also pedagogical, didactic, and personal criteria such as inclusiveness, co-creation of education, and the ability to inspire students and colleagues.

Three teachers were nominated in all categories (PO, VO, MBO and HBO/WO). In recent years, all nominations led to more attention and facilities for the initiatives of the selected teachers. Reason enough for a celebration!

Info market sustainable education from 6 p.m.

In the foyer surrounding the main hall, over twenty organizations will provide insight into their teaching materials and activities around sustainability education. Their expertise ranges from climate talks and outdoor education to making school environments more sustainable and building teacher networks to share expertise. Booths will be staffed during walk-ins, breaks and networking drinks.

Networking drinks 9:15-22:00 p.m.

Throughout the evening, there will be plenty of opportunities to network with teachers, school leaders and experts and organizations in the field of sustainable education. But the informal celebratory drinks after the awards ceremony is really the place to make new contacts. At ten o'clock still not finished talking? Then you can continue chatting in the café downstairs. Here you can have a delicious meal beforehand, by the way.

Music

In addition to all the inspiring lecturers and speakers, there will also be wonderful music from Dan D. Lion, a new five-piece funk collective consisting of second-year students in the Herman Brood Academy's Artist program. Influenced by the music of Grateful Dead, Parcels and Otis Redding, among others, they bring a colorful, danceable and uplifting performance. Prepare yourself for a magical feeling of freedom and affection and lose yourself listening or dancing in the Dan D. Lion vibe.
