Learning for Tomorrow
Learning for Tomorrow is a collaboration of more than 150 educational institutions, companies, and social organizations. Since 2017, we have been bringing these parties together to build sustainable, future-proof education.
Mission and Vision
Learning for Tomorrow accelerates the sustainability transition in education. We do this by fostering collaboration and connecting and supporting projects and initiatives.
Building Networks
We connect education, government, business, and civil society — so we can work together on sustainable education and learn from each other.
Strengthening Change
We support schools and institutions with tools, projects, and programs that accelerate and anchor sustainability.
Inspiring and Connecting
We share stories and best practices, and bring people together through meetings and events — so we can learn from one another.
What is Sustainable Education?
Sustainable education is future-proof education. It helps pupils and students understand how everything is interconnected — from energy and climate to community and care for one another.
More Than the Environment
Sustainable education is also about equality of opportunity, health, and well-being. It’s about collaboration, critical thinking, and creating space for creativity and craftsmanship.
Learning and Acting Together
Becoming sustainable happens step by step. When the whole team is involved, sustainability naturally becomes part of everyday school life.
Part of Something Bigger
Sustainable education contributes to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals — working toward fair, safe, and future-oriented education worldwide.
Our View on Sustainable Education
At Learning for Tomorrow, we see sustainable education as education that is future-proof in every sense. It’s not only about knowledge of the environment or climate, or about solar panels on the roof.
Sustainable education also means fostering equality, health, well-being, and connection. It’s about pupils and students learning to collaborate, think critically, and discover their own values.
And it’s about schools that embrace diversity, culture, creativity, and craftsmanship.
Through sustainable education, we contribute to a just and resilient society.
Becoming Sustainable: How It Works
Sustainable education doesn’t happen overnight. It requires an approach that involves the entire team and integrates sustainability step by step into everything the school does — from lessons and policies to buildings and community partnerships.
When everyone contributes, a clear direction emerges: sustainability becomes a natural part of learning and working at school.
Teachers inspire each other, individual initiatives grow into policy, and students experience sustainability not as something “extra,” but as part of everyday education.
The Whole School Approach (WSA) helps schools structure this process. It translates a school’s vision into clear, practical steps — from engaging colleagues, pupils, and students to designing the building and collaborating with the local community.
This makes the vision visible and tangible.
Curious how it works? Hear from schools that have truly started to think and act sustainably thanks to the WSA.
