Sustainable School Leader Election 2024

Cooperative Learning for Tomorrow and Dyade organize in 2024 for the first time the Sustainable School Leader Election to highlight sustainable school leaders and inspire others to commit themselves with the same energy to sustainable development in education. 

Leaders sought for positive impact
To prepare young generations for the world of tomorrow, they need the tools to shape that future sustainably. Many schools work daily to instill the knowledge, attitudes and skills needed to make the world sustainable.   

We are looking for the school leader, (site) director or team leader in primary education, secondary education or vocational education who makes a positive impact. Dhe innovatively makes the school and education sustainable and inspires colleagues and students with enthusiasm. Who has vision and includes employees within the school in the transition to sustainable education. During the election, we give these leaders a stage and share their stories.

Purpose of the project.

The election aims to inspire school leaders across the country and provide tools to get started and make sustainability an integral part of the way schools teach. We do this by providing a platform and sharing knowledge and stories of the forerunners in this field.

In doing so, we approach sustainability broadly from the global United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This means looking at the social side of sustainability (equity and inclusion) in addition to environmental aspects, for example.

Approach to Sustainable School Leader Election

You can be a sustainable school leader in many different ways. Are you, or do you know, a school leader who has formed a vision with their team for a sustainable school? Who has a concrete approach with examples of practical solutions? Who gives teachers' and students' sustainable initiatives space and action perspective? Who collaborates with other schools or organizations on social issues? And inspires others with innovative ideas? Are you, or do you know, such a sustainable school leader? Share your story and inspire other school leaders to become a sustainable school and give energy to sustainable development in education!

The jury chooses a winner annually from po, vo and mbo. The jury is independent, chaired by an independent jury president and includes a composite group of experts in school leadership and sustainable development, students and teachers. View here the full criteria.
