However, there is an increase of 11% in the latter category, indicating a growing focus on sustainable teaching methods and pedagogy.
Practice: gains to be made in internships
The highest scores are in internal and external communication, emphasizing that institutions are doing a good job of communicating their sustainable ambitions and efforts. The lowest scores are vear (I)BPV -Internship and sustainability (43%). So there are opportunities for better integration of sustainability in internships and practical education.
Operations: much in order but biodiversity needs more attention
The most points are obtained on housing policy (71%), which asks for plans, ambitions and examples of sustainable housing with attention to circularity, CO2 neutrality, climate adaptation, among others. The lowest scores are achieved on biodiversity (51%), a theme that is often given less priority within organizations.
Giuseppe van der Helm, director of Cooperative Learning for Tomorrow, emphasizes the value of the SustainaBul benchmark: "We see that the annual research report "State of Education" pays little attention to whether the education system is preparing students well for a sustainable future. With the learning network of the SustainaBul MBO and the awarding of the annual SustainaBul MBO, we support schools to put this sustainable change into practice and share good examples. We warmly congratulate the winners and nominees on their achievements'.
Also, the number of sustainability labs is increasing
It is also notable that the The number of vocational schools within the MBO working on sustainable development in schools has increased. There are currently 35 and 11 in formation.
