Workshop Performatory: The potential of Leisure for Broad Prosperity

pf jasper bart ea

Voertaal: Engels

In this workshop, we explore the Performatory way of working from three perspectives. First of all we will dive into the content perspective of transformative social innovation. Second of all it will be about our pedagogical approach. Thirdly, we will discuss our direct link to real-life practices as the starting point of the efforts of students and the community.

The Performatory way of working applies to students of  the 2nd-4th year specialization Social Innovation. They learn by engaging in dialogues with multiple stakeholders, and by directly engaging in concrete projects to contribute to the (preferably: transformative) renewal of society. We put societal challenges at the center of the learning efforts of students. We challenge students to find and work on projects fitting their personal interests. For this, we start from a plural economics perspective.

Leisure is relevant in the performatory way of working. Of course, it is an important sector in society (leisure/tourism/events). Though this is not our main focus. One can also use a leisure perspective by working from human affects like joy, fun, flow, experiences and/or, more concretely, leisure activities (arts/culture/sports/events/games/..) to work on societal challenges, like enticing different lifestyles, strengthening industry collaborations.
