The emergence of a new economic humanity & translation to lessons and curricula
How can we educate students from a broader view of humanity?
A humane and sustainable economy requires a contemporary view of people. In many economic curricula man becomes however yet portrayedthonored as a pure rational and individualistic wezen, which is primarily out to satisfaction of his own needs. This Gay Economicus copes well with competition and feels comfortable in free markets where he does not have to have a special relationship with anyone. An economy that at this human view is based seeks permanent (material) growth, but also has negative consequences for social justice and the environment, among other things.
The question is how students can be educated from a broader view of humanity to find answers to these social issues later - during their working lives.

"The Homo Ecomicus is the main character in almost every economic textbook; he informs policy makers around the world; he defines the way we talk about ourselves; and tacitly shows us how to behave."
